Beyonce Kicks Off 'Formation' Tour in Custom DSquared2, Balmain
The singer hit the stage in a crystal–embellished bodysuit and statement hat.
Just four days after releasing Lemonade and dominating social media (Becky who?), Beyonce rocked opening night of the Formation World Tour in a "Victorian-inspired" outfit by Dsquared2 on Wednesday in Miami. The singer’s debut look included a crystal bustier with poufy embroidered velvet sleeves, a wide-brim black hat (throwing serious shade) and lace-trimmed leather gloves. Underneath it all was a tattoo-style lace and crystal fishnet bodysuit. Final touch? Ruffled and jeweled black ankle boots.
"We are crazy about Beyonce — the look tells a story, drawing from the motifs of our recent women’s runway collection while, at the same time, visualizing the powerful themes in her new music. It’s really exciting to see it come to life on stage, especially opening the show," said Dsquared2’s designers Dan and Dean Caten in a joint statement. The duo collaborated with Beyonce’s stylist Marni Senofonte earlier this year on the leather "warrior" jacket that the singer rocked during the Super Bowl halftime show.
Dsquared2 also created custom-made looks for Beyonce’s crew on the Formation tour (running until August). Twenty dancers rocked complementary Victorian-style lace bodysuits — plus, leather and lace gloves and wide-brim hats to sync with Queen Bey.
Another custom look she sported during opening night was a long sleeve bodysuit, hand embroidered with pearls and stones, designed by Balmain. Her dance team also wore customized ensembles by the French fashion house.
While the Beyhive spent the week thus far trying to identify the mysterious "Becky with good hair" and fretting over the state of the Carters' union, not to worry (for now) … the singer dedicated her final song "Halo" to hubby Jay Z.
