'Big Brother' easily wins Thursday night

'The Mentalist,' 'CSI' also helped CBS run away with ratings

CBS' "Big Brother," the only original offering on a repeat-laden Thursday, was easily the top-rated program for the night in adults 18-49.

Heading into the home stretch, the reality series averaged a 2.7 rating/9 share in 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers overall, dominating the 8 p.m. in all key ratings categories.

CBS got more good news Thursday. "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (9.5 million 2.3/7) and "The Mentalist" (10 million, 2.5/7) carried on the network's domination throughout the night with respectable numbers for reruns.

What's more, "Mentalist" showed some spunk in its new Thursday 10 p.m. slot, building on to its "CSI" lead-in.

For the night, CBS averaged 9.4 million viewers and a 2.5/8.

No other network came even close, with Fox (5.3 million, 1.7/5) ranking as No. 2 with repeats of "Fringe" and "Bones."

The Fox reruns were branded as "tweet-peats," allowing viewers to tweet along. As a result, "Fringe" was a top trending topic on Twitter during the broadcast.
