Big deal for China d-cinema biz

Time Antaeus will use Christie projectors

Chinese digital cinema vendor Time Antaeus will use Christie digital projectors in 800 theater installations.

The hardware will be deployed by the end of 2010, officials said Wednesday. Time Antaeus has ordered Christie CP2000 series projectors, which will be installed along with Time Antaeus Montage CDCS2000 servers.

Christie and Time Antaeus first struck a relationship during work on the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, for which the Chinese vendor purchased 120 Christie digital projectors.

"We selected Christie because they offer a range of proven entertainment solutions with remarkable image quality, reliability and stability," Time Antaeus chairman Zhang Baoquan said. "Most importantly, we foresee their excellent service and undisputed success in the series of massive deployments around the world. This will certainly help us contribute to the growth of the digital-cinema market in China."

Christie Digital U.S. president Jack Kline said Time Antaeus' d-cinema plans place China "at the forefront of the digital cinema evolution, surpassing many other countries in the world."
