'The Big Sick': Watch THR Talks Panel With Kumail Nanjiani, Co-Writer Emily V. Gordon, Zoe Kazan, Ray Romano
THR’s senior film writer Tatiana Siegel moderates a discussion with the team behind the breakout romantic comedy.
Following the success of this summer’s breakout romantic comedy The Big Sick, star Kumail Nanjiani and his real life wife, Emily V. Gordon, with whom he wrote the Amazon Studios film, will join castmembers Zoe Kazan and Ray Romano for a panel discussion Thursday moderated by The Hollywood Reporter’s senior film writer Tatiana Siegel at New York’s 92nd Street Y.
The Big Sick tells the story of Kumail (Nanjiani) and Emily (Kazan) as they fall in love. Kumail was born and raised in a traditional Muslim family by Pakistani immigrant parents, while Emily had an average American upbringing. As the two deal with the culture clash of their families, their love story becomes even more complicated when Emily contracts a mysterious illness that forces her into an induced coma.
The film is based on Nanjiani and Gordon's real-life romance. During the panel, the team behind The Big Sick will discuss turning the true story of love and illness into one of the most successful films of 2017. The indie pic grossed more than $54 million worldwide.
The panel begins at 8 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream here and below.
