Big Three cast leads on comedy

Miller, Thune to 'Die' for CBS; Bibb, Higgins hitched to NBC; Stiles to ABC

T.J. Miller and Nick Thune have landed the leads on CBS' comedy pilot "Waiting to Die," Leslie Bibb and John Michael Higgins have been tapped as leads on NBC's untitled Justin Adler comedy pilot, and Ryan Stiles will star opposite Christian comedian Anita Renfroe in her untitled comedy presentation for ABC.

"Die," from Sony/Tantamount/ CBS Par, is a buddy comedy about two simple guys (Miller, Thune) who are happy with their lives, no matter how bad things might look from the outside.

Miller ("Cloverfield") and Thune ("Extract") are repped by Endeavor and 3 Arts.

Sony/Tantamount's Adler project revolves around adult siblings and their controlling mother. Bibb, who most recently appeared in "Confessions of a Shopaholic," will play the oldest sibling, a perfect domestic goddess. Higgins, repped by Endeavor and Magnolia, will play her husband, a wealthy professional polo player.

For Higgins, the casting is in second position to the NBC comedy "Kath & Kim," which appears unlikely to return.

The Renfroe comedy, also from Sony/Tantamount, is a parenting show about a couple (Renfroe, Stiles) raising their kids. "The Drew Carey Show" alum Stiles, repped by APA and Lieberman-Zerman Management, has a recurring role on "Two and a Half Men."

In other pilot castings, Skylar Astin and Darien Provost have joined CBS' Adam Carolla-starring comedy "Ace in the Hole," and Bobby Lee has been added to NBC's comedy "State of Romance." (partialdiff)
