Bill Shine's Wife Deletes Twitter Account Amid Backlash From Megyn Kelly, Gretchen Carlson

Darla and Bill Shine

Darla Shine has been called out for attacking some of the women who accused her husband of malfeasance.

Darla Shine, the wife of Fox News executive turned White House communications chief Bill Shine, has long used her personal Twitter account to attack some of the women who have accused him of turning a blind eye to sexual harassment at his former company.

In recent days, following her husband's ascension to the White House, Darla Shine has come under attack for her tweets from former Fox Newsers, including ex-stars — and sexual harassment accusers — Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly. On Thursday, Shine appeared to have deleted her account, which is no longer accessible online.

"Oh and Darla got to spew crap about me without any repercussions but women who are harassed and forced into secret arbitration or settlements can’t say s—-. Go figure," Carlson wrote on Twitter.

Kelly responded to a story in HuffPost, published Thursday, that included a Shine tweet where she alleged Kelly had shared only an "awkward hug" with the late Roger Ailes, and not the nonconsenual touching Kelly alleged in her book.

"To Darla Shine — yes, it was indeed an 'awkward hug' between me (then a 2d year reporter) & my then-boss, the CEO Ailes, especially when in his locked office he tried to make out w/me & then demanded to know when my contract was up after I shoved him off," Kelly responded on Twitter.

Darla Shine also has a history of promoting conspiracy theories on Twitter and making offensive comments on other social media platforms, according to the report.

Bill Shine's hiring was made official by the White House Thursday, and he joined President Trump on a trip to Montana to speak at a campaign rally later in the day.

A Fox News spokesperson has not yet responded to a request for comment on the appointment of Shine, who left the network under pressure in 2017.
