Bio unveils new William Shatner series

'I Survived' spinoff, 'My Ghost Story' also announced

Bio Channel announced three new shows at its upfront presentation Wednesday, including a series hosted by William Shatner.

The former "Star Trek" captain will command a program called "Shatner's Aftermath" that looks at Americans who became overnight household names, such as The Unabomber and Iraq war PFC Jessica Lynch. This marks the second Shatner series on Bio, with "Shatner's Raw Nerve" returning this year. GRB Entertainment will produce six episodes.

Bio is also ordering a spinoff of its series "I Survived" titled "I Survived ... Beyond and Back" about people who literally died and then were resuscitated. The network ordered six episodes from NHNZ.

Finally, Bio is following up on the success of the network's top-rated "Celebrity Ghost Stories" with "My Ghost Story," where people recount their paranormal experiences. Eight episodes have been ordered from Mark Phillips.

Bio is coming off its two most-watched quarters in the network's history and is up 10% among adults 19-49 year to date. The network rebranded from Biography Channel to Bio last year and added the tagline "True Story."
