Black rolls with 'Thunder'

Jack Black is in talks to star in the Ben Stiller-helmed comedy "Tropic Thunder" for DreamWorks Pictures and Red Hour Films.

The film chronicles the making of a big-budget war movie, where everything goes wrong and the actors end up depending on one another for their survival. Robert Downey Jr. and Jay Baruchel already have boarded the project. Stiller, Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen penned the screenplay.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in July.

Red Hour's Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld are producing alongside Eric McLeod.

DreamWorks' Jeremy Kramer and Adam Goodman will shepherd the project for the studio, while Lara Breay is overseeing for Red Hour.

Black and Stiller last teamed on the 2004 comedy "Envy."

Black is repped by UTA.
