'Bob's Burgers' Producer Launches Kids Unit, Teams With 'Teletubbies' Co-Creator
Sutikki will be the primary production partner for Andrew Davenport's next major series.
Bob's Burgers producer Bento Box Entertainment on Tuesday unveiled the launch of a kids and family division, Sutikki, and a partnership with Teletubbies co-creator Andrew Davenport, who is also behind In the Night Garden.
Through the relationship with Davenport’s production company Foundling Bird, Sutikki will be the primary production partner and global commercial product licensor for his next major series for young children, set to be announced shortly.
With the move, Bento Box makes its first foray into the programming space for kids ages 2 to 11.
Bento Box co-founder and CEO Scott Greenberg announced the news on the first day of Brand Licensing Europe in London, where Sutikki is making its debut.
Kids production, distribution and merchandising executives Irene Weibel and Andrew Kerr will lead the new business unit and will be responsible for its day-to-day operations.
Weibel most recently served as vp and head of Nelvana Studio, a division of Corus Entertainment. She managed the development slate and served as executive producer of all series in production at the Toronto-based studio, including Mike the Knight, Disney's Lucky Duck and the previously announced series Mysticons, which will debut on Nickelodeon in 2017, and Hotel Transylvania, due to launch on Disney Channels worldwide in 2017.
Kerr comes to Sutikki after holding the position of co-head, Nelvana Enterprises, where he oversaw all aspects of the Corus Kids distribution and merchandising business and Nelvana’s brand rights in the Americas and Australasia. He worked on such hits as Bakunin and Beyblade and most recently on the re-boot of Zhu Zhu Pets, which premiered in September.
