Bollywood eyes 'Italian Job' remake

Project said to be in the scripting stage

NEW DELHI -- "The Italian Job" will be remade in an authorized Bollywood version by the Indian Film Co., the company said Tuesday.

"We have obtained the remake rights from Paramount and the project is in the scripting stage to be directed by well-known Bollywood director duo Abbas-Mustan," TIFC CEO Sandeep Bhargava said.

A budget for the as-yet-untitled Bollywood remake was not given, but Bhargava said the film is expected to begin shooting either toward the end of this year or early 2009. Other details including the cast also are being finalized. Abbas-Mustan are known for action-musical capers such as their recent "Race."
