Passengers were asked to deplane after a bag with wires sticking out raised concerns

Passengers on a departing LAX flight were asked to deplane on Sunday so that the bomb squad could investigate a possible threat, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Passengers boarding the American Eagle flight alerted the crew that one bag had wires sticking out of it, Sgt. Karla Ortiz told THR. Airport police were notified, and the LAPD bomb squad was brought in to investigate.

The bomb unit determined that the bag with wires was not a bomb but instead belonged to a crew member of a reality TV show. Four of the show's crewmembers were passengers.

The initial call to police was made at 12:45 p.m., and the passengers were allowed back on the plane at 2:25 p.m.

Ortiz said that the airport did not need to be evacuated, adding that the American Eagle terminal is not near any flight paths and is not connected to the other terminals.
