Box Office Report: 'Harry Potter' Headed for Record-Breaking $80 Million-Plus Friday

Warner Bros.' Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is looking to earn as much as $80 million or more at the Friday box office, the best single day gross of all time domestically.
Tally includes a record-breaking $43.5 million in midnight grosses.

The previous crown holder for best midnight earner was The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which grossed $30 million in midnight runs on its way to scoring an opening-day tally of $68 million.
The biggest single-day opener is Twilight: New Moon, which grossed $72.7 mil.

Deathly Hallows 2 is a box office Goliath around the globe, grossing $82.5 million at the international box office on Wednesday and Thursday.
The movie's massive early performance continues the enormous popularity of the Harry Potter franchise, with the first seven films grossing $6.4 billion worldwide, making Harry Potter the most successful film series of all time.
Sentiment is running at red-hot levels as the last title hits the big screen. The final installment also has the advantage of playing in 3D, upping earning potential.

Deathly Hallows 2 marks another enormous success for Warners, home studio for the boy wizard.
Elsewhere at the Friday box office, Disney Animation Studios' Winnie the Pooh was off to a solid start. The film looks like it's succeeding in luring tots too young for Harry Potter.
