Breaking Down Alison Brie's Best Red-Carpet Looks
The 'GLOW' star has been rocking modern, sexy looks from brands like Jason Wu and Thai Nguyen. Says her stylist: "It's really about the fit and the nuances of the details."
"Alison is a perfect melding of someone who loves fashion but has a playful energy around how she wants to look," says THR power stylist Cristina Ehrlich, who has been working with the star of Netflix's GLOW for four years.
Ehrlich says the fashion tides turned for Brie, 34, during the press tour for 2016's How to Be Single. The actress slipped on a menswear-inspired mini by hip label Monse instead of a more traditional frock for the New York premiere and got glowing reviews. "That was her a-ha moment," says the stylist, who adds that Brie's style has continued to evolve over the past year.
Indeed, her latest looks have been showstoppers, including a custom navy Jason Wu silk dress (1), inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface, for GLOW's L.A. premiere. "Jason showed her a few, but she immediately gravitated toward this one," says Ehrlich. ALC's wide-leg trousers and crop top (2) were straightforward and cool for a spring dinner in Beverly Hills. And the actress twirled the night away in a fringed Thai Nguyen (3) paired with Jimmy Choos at a Hollywood Foreign Press Association banquet. "The sleeve is what made that dress so special," says Ehrlich about a punchy red Bella Freud dress (4) her client wore in London. An effortless velvet ruched Wolk Morais minidress (5) with Casadei heels hit a high note for the star while promoting The Disaster Artist at Toronto.
