Breslin in bright lights at ShoWest

Abigail Breslin, who next co-stars with Jodie Foster and Gerard Butler in Walden Media's "Nim's Island," will be honored as the female star of tomorrow at ShoWest 2008, organizers said Monday.

Breslin burst into the spotlight with her role in 2006's "Little Miss Sunshine." The same year, she also appeared in "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" and "The Ultimate Gift." One of Breslin's earliest roles was in 2002's "Signs."

Her upcoming films include Universal's "Definitely, Maybe" and Picturehouse's "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl."

"Nim's Island" will be distributed by Fox domestically and Universal internationally.

"Since making her big-screen debut at the tender age of 5, Abigail Breslin has impressed critics and movie fans across the world with her versatile, enchanting and charismatic performances," ShoWest co-managing director Mitch Neuhauser said.

Breslin will be feted at an awards gala set to close ShoWest, set for March 10-13 at the Bally's and Paris hotels in Las Vegas.

ShoWest is produced by the Nielsen Film Group, a division of Nielsen Business Media, parent company of The Hollywood Reporter.
