It involves a sandwich, quips the author, who has been very critical of the filmmakers' choices for cast and screenwriter.

This story first appeared in the Feb. 13 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

Fifty Shades of Grey may have millions of rabid fans, but few have kept a closer eye on the movie adaptation of the EL James book than Bret Easton Ellis. The author was one of the most outspoken on social media when it came to the packaging of the film — often criticizing producers’ choices for cast and screenwriter.

THR spotted Ellis at a recent party where he noted, without approaching him, the presence of Mr. Grey himself, Jamie Dornan.

“I tweeted about him so much; I thought he was the best choice,” Ellis laughed, before revealing his plans regarding the film, out Feb. 13: “I will probably go see it on the Monday after [it opens] by myself at the ArcLight with a sandwich that I made at home.”
