Hip-hugging dresses, be gone! Thanks to a selective group of cool, baggy frocks seen at Saturday's awards show, we have an excuse to avoid working out for the next few, er, months.

Couch potatoes and ladies with expired Pilates Groupons, rejoice! Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards has proven that you can step out in shapeless garb -- and still look effortlessly cool. Sure, there were plenty of body-con dresses that appeared on the beach ceremony's blue carpet, but if baggy dresses needed an excuse to show up anywhere during awards season -- this was the ideal ceremony.

One of our favorite looks from the carpet kicked off with Lake Bell -- whose film, In a World, was nominated for best screenplay -- who arrived in a strapless satin dress with giant polka dots. The sack dress' slightly small slit added a bit of sexiness without going too Angelina Jolie. The actress appeared comfy and cool, while still looking like a true red-carpet beauty.

Frances Ha actress Greta Gerwig kept it bright in an shapeless orange Narciso Rodriguez  dress. No fuss, just a simple standout dress that the indie queen looked genuinely happy to be wearing.

Also getting in on the baggy-is-better look was Short Term 12 star Brie Larson, who won for best female lead. She was a complete knockout in a strapless black dress with a sweetheart neckline that wasn't exactly a sack, but lacked any real structure of curve-hugging.

We hope this trend takes hold -- it's been a long winter.
