'Bright Star,' 'True Grit' Actors Nominated for Irish Rising Star Award

Writer-directors Ian Power and Juanita Wilson are also in the running.

LONDON -- Actors Antonia Campbell Hughes and Domhall Gleeson are in the running for this year’s rising star nod, dished out at the Irish Film & Television Awards on Feb. 12 this year.

Campbell Hughes (Bright Star) and Gleeson (True Grit) are nominated alongside writer/directors Ian Power (The Runway) and Juanita Wilson (As If I Am Not There) by the Irish Film Board (IFB) and the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) for the category.

The winner will be in auspicious company following last year’s writer/director Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells) and the previous year’s winner Michael Fassbender. Saorise Ronan has also made off with the nod previously.

Selected by a special jury and sponsored by the IFB, the rising star award aims to highlight breakthrough talent working in all areas of the Irish film industry.
