Brighter Mon. at NBC

Trio deliver best numbers in at least six weeks

NBC's Monday night lineup had its strongest performance in weeks, with "Chuck," "Heroes" and "Medium" posting their best numbers since at least early March.

"Heroes" (6.8 million viewers, 3.3 preliminary adults 18-49 rating) and "Chuck" (6.2 million, 2.3) rose slightly to earn their best numbers in six weeks, and "Medium" (7.7 million, 2.7) had its biggest rating in eight weeks. The NBC numbers are not striking but represent a return to levels that were common for the shows after the start of the year. "Chuck" and "Heroes" still ranked last in their hours among the major broadcasters, with "Medium" in second place at 10 p.m.

CBS and Fox tied to win the night. CBS' overall rating was identical to when it previously aired a regular lineup two weeks ago. Fox was down slightly this week. ABC placed third and featured the second episode of "Surviving Surburbia" (9.7 million, 2.6), which fell in tandem with its "Dancing With the Stars" lead-in (19.5 million, 4.6).

On cable, Sunday night's third-season finale of "Rock of Love" (3.2 million, 1.9) hit a series high for VH1, ranking as the top-rated show on cable in the adult demo.

Lifetime aired the last of its four Nora Roberts adaptations, "Tribute" (3.4 million), on Saturday. The performance drew fewer viewers compared with the tabloid-headline-making "Northern Lights."

The premiere of Comedy Central's fantasy parody series "Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire" (1.6 million, 0.7) pulled average numbers, a little less than "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" that night and significantly less than the recent premiere of sketch show "Important Things With Demetri Martin."

For last week, Fox won for a 10th week in a row, helped by a headline-making "House" (13.3 million, 5.1) on Sunday. (partialdiff)
