British 'Banzai' heads to Web

RDF brings popular U.K. series to MySpace, others

RDF USA will distribute webisodes of the British program "Banzai" through several sites, with MySpace getting first dibs on the content.

Under terms of the deal, MySpaceTV will get the webisodes exclusively for 30 days before it is distributed on other sites, including YouTube, Hulu, Metacafe, DailyMotion and Comedy Demon. An announcement is expected today.

"Banzai," described as a "faux Japanese game show," aired as a half-hour program on the U.K.'s E4 and Channel 4 networks in 2003 and then in the U.S. on Fox, Comedy Central and G4. Angelina Jolie, and Kelsey Grammer were among the celebrity guests on the show.

The webisodes consist of repackaged content from the original "Banzai" episodes. There will be more than 200 total shows and they will range between one and four minutes.
