British Fashion Council Brings the London Showrooms Back to Los Angeles
A group of hot London designers is making their way back to Hollywood, showing spring 2013 looks to celebrity stylists for awards season.
The British Fashion Council has been holding its London Showrooms in Los Angeles twice a year, to display the works of hot Brit designers like Mary Katrantzou and Marios Schwab to stylists -- and many of their designs have wound up on celebs very quickly.
In fact, last year in October, designs by Londoners Roksanda Illincic and Jonathan Saunders were worn to the Hollywood Film Awards the following week, by Amber Heard and Emma Stone, respectively. Now the London crew are returning on October 24 and 25, and taking up residence at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills.
Interestingly, the timing is similar. But this year, the Hollywood Film Awards are on October 22, before all the cool British styles get here. Oh, well. There are plenty of red carpet events upcoming. This time out, Illincic and Saunders and designer Peter Pilotto are not on the list of designers expected, which is a shame, because all three of them are very talented. But the divine Mary Katrantzou is returning -- the queen of prints who's dressed Keira Knightley, Hailee Steinfeld, Shailene Woodley and more -- plus Marios Schwab, the avant garde and super cool Louise Gray, leather king and former Roland Mouret protege Todd Lynn, and the colorful and climactic shoes of Nicholas Kirkwood. There will also be collections from new emerging designers and even a few menswear designers along for the Hollywood ride.
The showroom is relocating, this time to the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills, and will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Wednesday night the British Fashion Council will hold a cocktail party at the Skybar -- and THR has heard that Anna Wintour and Victoria Beckham will hold a private dinner on the 25th at Bouchon for all the designers.
