The pop superstar will return to the VMA stage as a performer for the first time in a decade.

Britney Spears is headed back to the start.

The "Clumsy" singer is the first confirmed performer for the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 28, marking her return to the VMA stage for the first time in a decade. She will be joined by her "Make Me" partner in crime, rapper G-Eazy, for the world premiere live performance of the single from her upcoming ninth studio album, Glory, due out Aug. 26.

Spears — who has 28 VMA nominations and five wins — announced the news via a video created by Los Angeles-based experimental director Radical Friend that calls back to some of the singer's iconic VMA appearances from the past, including her 1999 debut medley of "Baby One More Time/ Tearing Up My Heart" with 'NSYNC and, of course, her infamous 2003 Madonna kiss.

Spears joins a lineup that also includes previously announced performer and 2016 Video Vanguard recipient Rihanna. Voting is open now for the Best New Artist Award (and will stay open through the VMA pre-show airing at 8 p.m. ET) and, for the first time this year, fans can also cast their votes for the category via Facebook Messenger.
