Former Millennium Entertainment president Steve Nickerson has come aboard to run the unit.

Indie film company Broad Green Pictures continues to grow its profile, tapping former Millennium Entertainment executive Steve Nickerson to serve as president of its new home entertainment division.

Joining Nickerson are Sandy Friedman, who will serve as executive vp home entertainment operations, and Bobby Gerber, who has been named vp home entertainment sales. The trio previously worked together at Summit Entertainment.

Most recently, Nickerson was president of distribution company Millennium Entertainment, overseeing sales, marketing and distribution. At Summit, he was president of home entertainment, building the division from the ground up.

At Broad Green, Nickerson will serve on the company's greenlight committee and report directly to CEO Gabriel Hammond, who launched Broad Green last year with his brother, chief creative officer Daniel Hammond.

"Steve possesses absolutely unparalleled experience in business building and execution in home entertainment. He will provide such incredibly strong leadership and create a tremendous platform for innovation, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome him, Sandy, and Bobby," the brothers said in a statement.

Added Nickerson: "The ways in which consumers experience films continue to evolve, as do the expectations of both the existing, traditional customers as well emerging platforms that we will partner with to bring Broad Green Pictures films to consumers. The ability to work with Gabriel and Daniel to build an independent studio that will enable the realization of their unique visions for bringing film entertainment to consumers is truly exciting."

Broad Green's upcoming release slate includes 99 Homes; Eden; A Walk in the Woods, starring Robert Redford; and three films from director Terrence Malick Knight of Cups, Voyage of Time and the untitled project starring Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Michael Fassbender. The company also recently acquired I Smile Back, starring Sarah Silverman, which premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
