Broadway producers' trial nearly over
Livent co-founders will not call witnessesTORONTO -- The Toronto fraud trial of former Broadway producers Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb is approaching the finish line after the Livent co-founders said they will not call witnesses in their defense.
The trial will now move to final arguments on Dec. 15, Ontario Superior Court Justice Mary Lou Benotto said Monday.
Drabinsky and Gottlieb have been on trial since May for allegedly cooking the books at Livent Inc. between 1993 and 1998, actions that led to the bankruptcy of the live theater producer after it was purchased by Michael Ovitz.
Benotto is expected to render her verdict on the Livent trial after she receives oral and written arguments.
