20th Century Fox is in negotiations to pick up the comedy Brother From Another Mother out of turnaround from DreamWorks.

John Hamburg, who most recently wrote and directed the Paul Rudd-Jason Segal bromance comedy I Love You, Man, wrote the script and is attached to direct.

The story follows two estranged brothers -- one brilliant but aimless, the other a precocious and sheltered teen -- who share the same father and are thrust together on a road trip.

DreamWorks, which initially picked up the project last summer, will retain the option to co-finance if the project were to forward.

Hamburg is frequent collaborator of Ben Stiller -- he worked on the three Meet the Parents movies as well as Zoolander and Along Came Polly -- and the deal will put the writer-director at the same studio that the comedian and his Red Hour production banner call home.

Hamburg is repped by WME and Sloss Eckhouse Law.
