Seth Meyers, Jim Gaffigan, Jon Stewart, Bruce Springsteen Set for 2018 Stand Up for Heroes Benefit
Jimmy Carr and Eric Church round out the lineup for the 12th annual event to support wounded veterans and their families.
The annual Stand Up for Heroes comedy benefit for wounded veterans will be back for its 12th edition this November, with Seth Meyers, Jim Gaffigan and regular Jon Stewart among the notable comedians ready to take the stage.
Other performers set for this year's Stand Up for Heroes include Jimmy Carr and Eric Church. Additionally, after being absent last year due to his Broadway show, Bruce Springsteen will return as the musical guest for this year's edition.
Stewart and Springsteen have performed at the Madison Square Garden event for years and Meyers and Gaffigan have taken the stage at past iterations of the annual benefit. Previous performers have included Jerry Seinfeld, John Oliver, Conan O'Brien, Trevor Noah, Ray Romano, Stephen Colbert, Ricky Gervais, John Mulaney, Hasan Minhaj and Robin Williams.
The event, presented by the Bob Woodruff Foundation and the New York Comedy Festival, has raised more than $45 million since it began in 2007 to help injured service members and their families. Bob and Lee Woodruff partnered with NYCF founders Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox to launch the evening of music and comedy to recognize and honor the resilience and recovery of wounded veterans and their loved ones.
“As Lee and I began our own journey of recovery from my injuries, we were inspired and committed to do something in return for those who risk so much and ask for so little,” Bob Woodruff said in a statement. “Stand Up for Heroes was our way to come together with our veterans and their families so that we could laugh, heal and share in the incredible stories that have defined this movement.”
Said NYCF and Carolines on Broadway founder Caroline Hirsch, who serves on the board of the Bob Woodruff Foundation: “Stand Up for Heroes is an incredible example of the healing powers of music and laughter. We are proud to commend our veterans, and are thrilled to present the event, which wouldn’t be possible without the time and dedication from all of the performers and supporters of the organization over the years.”
Stand Up for Heroes will take place Monday, Nov. 5, at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
