LONDON – Bruno Mars will add further U.S. star power to the 2014 Brit Awards, the U.K. music industry's top awards event, organizers said Thursday.

Mars, who also recently performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam, is the latest addition to the lineup of stars at the London awards ceremony set for Feb. 19.

Previously announced performers include Britain's Arctic Monkeys and U.S. pop star Katie Perry. British bands Rudimental and Bastille have also been added to the lineup. Both will perform for the first time at the Brits.

The Arctic Monkeys will open the televised show with a live set in what has been seen a big get for the event given the band's dicey history with the Brit Awards.

This year's Brit Awards boasted a slew of U.S. stars, including performances by Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake. Frank Ocean and Lana Del Ray were among the winners.
