'BSG' spinoff, 'Futurama' on tap at Sky One

Homegrown shows also programmed for the fall

LONDON -- "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica," "Futurama" and Season 20 of "The Simpsons" are among the Sky One highlights scheduled for the fall, programming boss Richard Woolfe said Wednesday.

Woolfe hopes to woo Sky's sci-fi-hungry audiences with the "Galactica" prequel, which follows the creation of the first Cylon, the invention that eventually threatens the annihilation of the human race.

Sky also will feature a host of homegrown reality and factual shows including "Loveland," in which longtime U.K. TV favorite Cilla Black chaperones singles to meet suitors who will appear in animated form. It will be up to the participants to decide whether what lies behind the cartoon is a real-life Jessica Rabbit or something more akin to the Tasmanian Devil.

Other highlights include "Hairspray: The School Musical," in which Denise Van Outen takes 40 children from a North London school and transforms them into performers of the stage show, and the BAFTA-winning "Ross Kemp On Gangs."
