BSkyB launching SkyArts2

New channel home to classical arts

LONDON -- BSkyB is doubling its commitment to arts programming and expanding its portfolio of SkyArts channels with the Oct. 2 launch of SkyArts 2.

SkyArts 1 will now broadcast a range of "contemporary and cult" programming including live rock concerts, while SkyArts 2 will be the home of classical arts. SkyArts HD will carry content from both digital channels.

Sky Entertainment MD Sophie Turner Laing said that coverage of the arts is "integral to the Sky platform."

"At a time when other broadcasters' commitment to the arts is open to question, we believe in giving our customers the best choice," she said.
