'Buffy' Star Nicholas Brendon Pleads Guilty to Misdemeanor Charge
Police said the 44-year-old actor grabbed his girlfriend by the throat, took her keys and tossed her cellphone during a Sept. 30 fight in New York.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — An actor who starred on TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer has pleaded guilty to criminal mischief after he was accused of choking his girlfriend in an upstate New York hotel room.
The Albany Times Union reported that Nicholas Brendon pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Friday in Saratoga Springs.
Police said the 44-year-old actor grabbed his girlfriend by the throat, took her keys and tossed her cellphone during a Sept. 30 fight.
Prosecutors say Brendon will not serve jail time in the latest case if he completes drug and alcohol counseling and stays out of trouble for one year. Defense attorney Peter Coseo told the newspaper his client is working to "get his life back together."
Brendon played Xander on Buffy, and he also appeared on the procedural Criminal Minds.
