Daenerys Targaryen's Dragon Necklace Can Now Be Yours
'Game of Thrones' costume designer Michele Clapton teamed up with Yunus & Eliza to launch MEY Designs, a collection of jewelry that includes Khaleesi's cool hardware.
Over the past six seasons, Game of Thrones' Daenerys Targaryen (aka Khaleesi/Mother of Dragons/Breaker of Chains) has earned a reputation for conquering any and all people who come between her and her ultimate goal: the Iron Throne.
But as her empire has expanded, so too has her wardrobe — specifically, her jewels. And now, thanks to a collaboration between Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton and London-based jewelers Yunus Ascott and Eliza Higginbottom, those jewels can be yours.
In partnership with HBO Global Licensing, the trio teamed up to create MEY Designs, a brand whose 20-piece collection of rings, cuffs, neck sculptures, earrings and pendants includes items both worn on and inspired by the hardware from the show.
"Whilst working on designs for season five I realized that I wanted to create some unique sculptural pieces of jewelry for Khaleesi to help her visually express herself and her position within the story," Clapton told Pret-a-Reporter. "For one particular piece I was introduced to Yunus and Eliza by an assistant who thought we might have similar ideas. They were right! We instantly clicked and worked really well together to create the beautiful dragon necklace."
The solid silver pieces range in price from $95 for stackable rings to $2,730 for the iconic Daenerys Drogon Neck Sculpture worn in seasons five and six.
"The pieces reflect [Daenerys'] character — bold, rebellious, beautiful," said Clapton, who added that some pieces were more subtly influenced by the Mother of Dragons. "There are everyday pieces inspired by [the show] for adding a hint of Khaleesi rebellion to every day."
