Buyers sweet on 'Honey'

Berlinale Golden Bear winner closes on multiple territories

COLOGNE, Germany -- "Honey" by Semih Kaplanoglu, which won the Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, has closed deals for several major territories.

The Match Factory signed deals for the Turkish drama for France (Bodega), Spain (Golem), Austria (Stadtkino Wien), Switzerland (Trigon), Poland (AP Manana), former Yugoslavia (Discovery), Greece (Ama Films), Portugal (Atalanta) and Iran (Farabi). Filmmuseum picked up rights to Kaplanoglu's entire Turkish trilogy -- which also includes "Egg" (2007) and "Milk" (2008) for Benelux.

The Match Factory is currently in talks for a domestic deal on "Honey" and major territories including Germany, Italy, Scandinavia and Brazil are also under negotiation.
