CAA inks 'China's Oprah'

Yang Lan, one of China's most prominent media entrepreneurs, has signed with CAA.

Called "China's Oprah," Yang co-founded Sun Media Investment Holding, the country's second-largest privately owned media company. Her business interests include TV production, newspapers, magazines, digital media and a high-end jewelry line.

CAA will rep Yang in all areas to expand her brand globally.

Yang rose to national fame as host of CCTV's "Zheng Da Variety Show," China's highest-rated program with 220 million viewers. She went on to create some of the country's most popular shows, including "Yang Lan One on One" and "Her Village," many of them aimed at young women. She turned "Village" into a destination Web site and blog, reaching 200 million people a month.

Yang also was a goodwill ambassador during the bidding for the 2008 Olympic Games and works in philanthropy, creating the Sun Culture Foundation to raise awareness of poverty and education.

Since 2003 she has served as a member of the 10th and 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
