Callan McAuliffe joins 'Flipped' cast

Marks Australian's first role in a U.S. feature

Australian actor Callan McAuliffe has booked his first American feature: Rob Reiner's "Flipped" for Warner Bros.

McAuliffe will play the foil and eventual love interest to Madeline Carroll in a comedy adapted from Wendelin Van Draanen's 2001 young-adult novel. Aidan Quinn, Penelope Ann Miller, John Mahoney, Anthony Edwards, Rebecca De Mornay and Kevin Weisman recently were cast as the grown-ups surrounding antagonistic boy and girl neighbors who eventually share a kiss when they reach their teens.

Reiner is directing, and he co-wrote the screenplay with writer-producer Andy Scheinman. East of Doheny topper Kelly Gonda is producing along with Reiner and his producing partner Alan Greisman.

The film is moving toward a late-June shoot in Michigan.

McAuliffe is repped by WME and Affirmative Entertainment.
