Canada Gets Local Version of A&E's 'Intervention'

"Intervention Canada" on the Slice cable channel will follow the American reality series in bringing Canadians with addictions to recovery.

TORONTO -- A&E’s Emmy-winning Intervention reality series is coming to Canada.

Canadian cable channel Slice is to air 13 one hour episodes of Intervention Canada from Open Door Co. and Insight Productions, after inking a formal deal with A&E Television Networks.

Like the U.S.-based A&E Intervention series, which bowed in 2005, Intervention Canada will portray Canadians with addictions being possibly brought by families and friends into recovery.

The homegrown reality series will air from Friday, September 9 with back-to-back episodes.

Canadian interventionists Andrew Galloway and Maureen Brine will host the local version.
