Canada shoots for its own 'Wipeout'

ABC series already airs on Global Television

TORONTO -- ABC's reality TV stunt series "Wipeout" is coming to Canada. As part of a format deal with Disney, the Canadian distributor of "Wipeout," indie producer Lone Eagle Entertainment is to produce a Canadian version of the reality contestant series.

Plans are for the show to begin shooting in the fall and bow next year on the TVtropolis cable channel owned and operated by Canwest Global Communications Corp.

The original ABC series, produced by Endemol USA, already airs on Global Television, Canwest Global's national TV network, opening the way for Canadians to try their luck on their own giant "Wipeout" obstacle course. Canwest Global is to make announcements on a host and cast for the local "Wipeout" series in the near future.
