Canada VOD welcomes 3
EmptyCanadian broadcaster CTV said Tuesday that it has inked a deal with Warner Bros. International Television for the simultaneous distribution of three rookie series — "Gossip Girl," "Big Shots" and "Pushing Daisies"— on VOD and online streaming.
Toronto-based CTV said the Warner Bros. product will be available on Rogers VOD, an on-demand service operated by Rogers Communications, Canada's largest cable operator, 24 hours after their primetime TV airing here.
In addition, the episodes will be available for streaming at CTV.ca following the broadcast premieres on CTV.
In its first-ever VOD deal for U.S. network series, CTV said the three Warner Bros. series will air in full and for free for six days on Rogers' on-demand service.
The ad-supported VOD offering on Rogers will enable Canadians to catch up on missed episodes, CTV said.
The freshman series came to CTV when Canada's top-rated network bought WBITV's entire slate in May at the Los Angeles Screenings.
