Canada's Movie nets take 'Five'

TORONTO -- Canadian premium pay TV networks Movie Central and the Movie Network on Monday said that they have acquired the HBO/BBC miniseries "Five Days" as part of an output deal with HBO.

The five-part BBC thriller that chronicles the disappearance of a young mother in a British suburb will bow Oct. 2 on both Movie Central and the Movie Network.

"Five Days" stars David Oyelowo, Hugh Bonneville, Janet McTeer, Penelope Wilton, Patrick Malahide and Sarah Smart.

HBO jointly produced "Five Days" as part of a string of co-productions with the British broadcaster.

Movie Central, which is owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, and the Movie Network, a division of Astral Media, are Canada's two premium pay TV networks. They face first-time competition this fall from upstart Allarco Entertainment.
