Canada's Tricon Names Syndication Veteran as SVP Programming

Former Bellum Entertainment exec Boyd McDonnell will generate new partnerships and content for U.S. syndication.

TORONTO -- Canada's Tricon Films & Television has tapped Boyd McDonnell to fill the newly created position of senior vp programming, overseeing a push into U.S. syndication.

The former Bellum Entertainment vp programming and distribution will work out of Tricon's Los Angeles office and with the international distribution unit to syndicate content from the programming library.

"One of Tricon's strengths is utilizing alternative financing models through our international relationships in development and production, and the value in the syndication market has increased significantly towards this strategy," said Andrea Gorfolova, president of Tricon Films and Television, in a statement Wednesday.

Before Bellum Entertainment, McDonnell was director of West Coast distribution with Sony Pictures Television, and also worked with the indie music label Capricorn Records.
