TORONTO -- Canadian TV comedy producer Vérité Films has signed a first-look deal with indie distributor Muse Entertainment Enterprises to lift its series into the world market.

Montreal-based Muse, best known for its U.S. cable drama co-productions such as The Kennedys and Pillars of the Earth, has an agreement to co-produce Vérité’s future TV series and sell them internationally.

Virginia Thompson and Robert de Lint's Vérité Films is best known for its long-running CTV and WGN comedy Corner Gas, and Incredible Story Studio, which aired on Disney, YTV and TVO.

"We look forward to helping Vérité Films become a significant player in the world of international television production," Michael Prupas, president and CEO of Muse Entertainment, said in a statement Monday.

"Vérité is thrilled to be working with Muse. In an increasingly global market, our goal is to focus on what we love most –- supporting exceptional talent, incubating great ideas and making outstanding television for Canada and the world,” added Thompson, executive producer of Vérité Films, in her own statement.
