The Canadian radio and TV broadcaster will host "The NHL Awards" on June 24 at the Encore Theater.

TORONTO — Anchoring hockey coverage in Canada has landed George Stroumboulopoulos a hosting gig for the upcoming The NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Stroumboulopoulos was recently named host of the NHL on Rogers, providing exclusive coverage of the National Hockey League in Canada from October 2014, via a $4.9 billion, 12-year deal between the NHL and Canadian broadcaster Rogers Media.

He earlier hosted an interview show on CNN, Stroumboulopoulos, and ABC reality TV talent show The One: Making a Music Star.

The NHL Awards will air on Tuesday, June 24, from the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas on the NBC Sports Network and on CBC in Canada.

The NHL is expected to unveil the talent and presenter lineup for its awards show in the coming weeks.

The league has held five previous season-ending award shows in Las Vegas.

IMG Productions will produce the 2014 NHL Awards, with Steve Mayer executive producing.
