Canal Plus, French orgs ink VOD deal

Three-year agreement signed with umbrella orgs

PARIS -- Canal Plus is pioneering its new VOD offering with a new agreement signed between the French pay TV group and the territory's industry organizations.

Artists rights group the ARP, an association of authors, directors and playwrights, and umbrella organizations for a number of French film professional groups signed a three-year deal that will allow Canal Plus subscribers to watch all French and European titles pre-purchased by the network.

Canal Plus subscribers can watch the films of their choice a maximum of three times during the film's period of broadcast on Canal Plus and its thematic channels. Canal Plus is the first TV group in France to sign such a deal.
