Canal Plus inks deal for new media

Producer groups hope to expand VOD, catch-up TV

PARIS -- French pay TV group Canal Plus has signed an agreement with Gallic TV producers union the USPA and animation producers group the SPFA to tighten producer-broadcaster ties to new-media formats in the territory, Canal Plus said Tuesday.

Both groups hope to expand the reach of catch-up TV and VOD services among the French public.

The agreement will focus on giving consumers access to independent audiovisual productions including animation, documentary, fiction, live events, music videos and news programs via more modern platforms.
