Canal Plus launches on-demand service

PARIS -- Subscribers to French pay TV group Canal Plus will now be able to see their favorite shows whenever they choose with the Tuesday launch of the group's Canal Plus On Demand service.

Subscribers to the group's basic Canal Plus le Bouquet package will have access to every show aired on Canal Plus and its thematic channels immediately after broadcast until one month after the original air date.

Programming will include Canal Plus original news and entertainment shows including "Le Grand Journal" and "Zapping" in addition to U.S. series "Desperate Housewives" and such feature films as "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

"Canal Plus on demand will allow each TV viewer to watch his/her favorite program over and over again just after its original air time, and offers him/her the freedom to become master of his/her viewing schedule," Canal Plus said Monday.
