Cannes 2012: Calvin Klein Celebrates Women in Film With Villa Party
Naomi Watts, Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastain, Ludivine Sagnier and Shailene Woodley were honored at the second annual event.
It was the second year that the IFP collaborated with Calvin Klein Collection and Euphoria Calvin Klein to throw its Women in Film party, which started at 10 p.m. on May 17 in the Villa St Georges, a private home in the hills outside of Cannes. It was the first time an event was held in the home, and people were clearly into viewing the multi room spread, with its incredible views and pool under the stars.
The ladies being honored were Naomi Watts, Diane Kruger, Jessica Chastain, Ludivine Sagnier and Shailene Woodley, so there was never any doubt of celebrity presence, which included Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett Smith and Melissa George. But Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa, the star of last year’s fete, had to cancel at the last minute. One source said he was stuck working on his new resort collection, but another said, “He had an emergency.” Well, we understand fashion emergencies.
Kruger made a dramatic entrance in a coral tea-length Calvin Klein with her man Joshua Jackson. “It wasn’t easy putting my wardrobe together,” she was overheard telling Cinema Society’s Andrew Saffir. “I don’t have a stylist, so I did fitting after fitting when I got here.”
Woodley, in a shorter peach Calvin Klein, made a beeline for Chastain, in a short coral CK number, as they are new awards season BFF’s now. At 1 a.m., the pair were spotted dancing barefoot together.
Calvin Klein model Lara Stone, in a silver va-va-voom Klein slip dress, came with her comedian husband David Walliams, who was bragging to David Schwimmer about Stone being the new face of Euphoria Calvin Klein.
Chris Rock showed up late and entertained both Stiller and Naomi Watts (in a Calvin Klein sleek blush gown), who then huddled with pal Isla Fisher. And the ubiquitous Alec Baldwin entertained Rock with stories of his new Cannes documentary with James Toback.
