Financial backing for the new venture will come from Amsterdam-based equity group Global Film Partners (GFP). GFP was a backer on upcoming drama Kidnapping Freddy Heineken, which European Film Company produced together with Informant Media. The film stars Anthony Hopkins as Freddy Heineken, the heir to the Heineken brewery fortune who was kidnapped and held for ransom in 1983. Sam Worthington, Jim Sturgess and Ryan Kwanten also star. Daniel Alfredson --  who directed the original 2009 Swedish film version of The Girl Who Played With Fire -- directed. A-Film picked up rights for Kidnapping Freddy Heineken and will distribute the film in the Benelux region.

The first project under the new agreement between A-Film and European Film Company will be The Windmill Massacre, a horror title to be co-produced with Informant Media's genre shingle Wiretap Films. Dutch filmmaker Nick Jongerius will direct.
