"You never look as ugly as you do in a selfie," says Thierry Fremaux.

Be careful the next time you grab a star on the Croisette for a quick photo.

During the Cannes lineup announcement on Thursday, festival director Thierry Fremaux revealed that there would be a clamp down on excessive selfie-taking on the red carpet.

"We don't want to prohibit it, but we want to slow down the process of selfies on the steps," he said, adding that he thought the practice was "ridiculous and grotesque," not to mention that it "really slows things down."

Added Fremaux: "You never look as ugly as you do in a selfie."

Someone might want to tell Kim Kardashian.
