Cannes: Dennis Gansel, 'Game of Thrones' Alum Sibel Kekilli Join 'Berlin I Love You'

Shekhar Kapur, Fernando Eimbcke and Marjane Satrapi are among the directors contributing shorts to the anthology film, the latest in the 'Cities of Love' franchise.

German actress Sibel Kekilli (Game of Thrones) and director Dennis Gansel (The Wave) are the latest talents to join the anthology film Berlin I Love You.

Kekilli, who also is attached to star in the upcoming German drama Im Feuer from filmmaker Daphne Charizani, will appear in a segment Gansel will helm. Gansel most recently directed Jason Statham in actioner Mechanic: Resurrection, which is set to bow in August in the U.S.

The omnibus film also will feature segments directed by Jan Ole Gerster (Oh Boy), Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis), Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth), Fernando Eimbcke (Lake Tahoe), Tom Van Avermaet (Death of a Shadow) and Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.

Berlin I Love You is the latest in the Cities of Love franchise, following Paris je t'aime in 2006 and New York, I Love You in 2008. All the short films for the anthology will focus on stories of romance set in the German capital.

Claus Clausen and Edda Reiser of Walk on Water Films are producing the pic together with Josef Steinberger of Rheingold Films. Emmanuel Benbihy, founder of the Cities of Love franchise, will executive produce.

Berlin I Love You is set to begin shooting in July.
