Cannes 2012: Media Luna Boards 'Lilet Never Happened'

The drama from Dutch director Jacco Groen looks at child prostitution in Manila.

CANNES - German sales group Media Luna have boarded Lilet Never Happened, a look a child prostitution in Manila, and will be selling the title to buyers at the Marche du Film.

The drama follows a 12-year-old Philippine-American girl struggling to survive in the streets of Manila who resists efforts by a social worker to rescue her. The screenplay is based on interviews with Lilet, one of Manila's most famous child prostitutes.

Lilet Never Happened stars Sandy Talag and Johanna ter Steege. Dutch group Spring Film is producing Lilet with Mike Downey and Sam Taylor's Film and Music Entertainment together with Wild & More Film and JaJa Film.
