Cannes: Norway's Fidalgo Nabs Competition Trio
The indie distributor takes rights to "Timbuktu," "Winter Sleep" and "Clouds of Sils Maria" as well as hot Directors' Fortnight title "Girlhood."
Norwegian independent distributor Fidalgo has had a busy Cannes, snapping up three competition titles for local release as well as one of the hottest features from outside the official selection.
Fidalgo picked up Norwegian rights to Abderrahmane Sissako's Timbuktu, Winter Sleep from acclaimed Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Clouds of Sils Maria from France's Olivier Assayas, all three of which are in the running for this year's Palme d'Or.
Fidalgo also nabbed Girlhood, the French drama from director Celine Sciamma, which screened in Directors' Fortnight and was an instant critical hit.
