The film, which premiered at SXSW, will be released in early 2016.

The Orchard has acquired North American, U.K. and Australian and New Zealand distribution rights to Ross Partridge’s Lamb, which debuted at the SXSW Film Festival. The distributor plans to release the movie in early 2016.

Partridge — who wrote and directed the film, which is based on the novel by Bonnie Nadzam — also stars as a man who forms a bond with a young girl, played by newcomer Oona Laurence, who joins him for a week in his rural hideaway.

The cast also features Jess Weixler, Tom Bower, Scoot McNairy, Joel Murray, Lindsay Pulsipher and Jennifer Lafleur.

The film was produced by Mel Eslyn, Taylor Williams and executive produced by Patridge and William Ruch. It was co-produced by Lafleur.

The deal was negotiated by The Orchard's Danielle DiGiacomo and ICM Partners, which also reps Patridge, on behalf of the filmmakers.
